Project 4 – Exploring the .gif

For this project, we have to create 4 animated .gifs, that show our mastery over the Photoshop program. The four .gifs have to be based off of  the passage of time, a moving object, animating a work of art or works of art, and the last one has to defy our concept of reality. To get us started, and so we understand how animation in Photoshop works, we were tasked with creating 4 basic animations, using preset images of various balls. I chose a beach ball for all 4 .gifs.

The first, and least complicated, was a ball falling from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen, as the alpha was lowered to zero percent.

The second ball had to bounce at least once across the screen.

The third .gif did not bounce, but had to look like it was being thrown, and using blending options, had to change color at least once.

Finally, the last .gif had to roll across the screen. This is the most difficult type of animation in Photoshop, since any kind of transformation requires each frame to be a new layer; which makes the process tedious and time consuming.
